Ms. Dapitan is Miss ZaNorte 2007 It’s a night of glitz, glamour and tiara madness when 14 young women vied the most coveted crown Zanorte in stored for a lady who exudes beauty and sophistication, the Miss Zanorte 2007. It was a tremendous night for Miss Dapitan after she was crowned as the fairest among equally stunning ladies during last night’s coronation event of Miss Zanorte at the Hudyaka Agro-Tourism and Industrial area.
Despite of a drizzly atmosphere, 19-year old Mary Kris Dagpin Grado stood out among the 14 ladies who competed in the pageant. In her wit reply to the question of “What contributions do your municipality give to the province for tourism enhancement?” Ms. Dapitan gave a flabbergasting riposte that “..Dapitan City defines the past, the present and the future of Zanorte, it is a paradise gift from God and a home of the people. Dapitanons continue to strive to grow economically and socially by making use of the best of our talents, skills, knowledge and capabilities in everything that we do, without sacrificing our strong spiritual beliefs, care for social responsibility and love for peace and respect.” Grado added that “..Dapitan City is known for its being part of the great history of our national Hero Dr. Jose Rizal, and that already contribute much to Zamboanga del Norte.” She said that because of the move of the Historical Institute to promote Dapitan as a Shrine City, tourism and commerce in the province has improved as local and tourism visitors come and visit also other places in the province. Moreover, she pronounced that the greatest contribution of Dapitan City is its cooperation with Dipolog City and all municipalities to support valuable programs being initiated by the Provincial Government”. “ ..Unity, cooperation and give and take relationship has led Zanorte a place to reckon in terms of unity despite of cultural adversity, peace and environmental protection..” Grado ended. Indubitably, the young lass gained massive support from the beauty connoisseurs who were present at the Hudyaka area. Ms. Dapitan got the Best in Evening Gown, Miss Tourism and Best in Swimsuit awards. On the other hand, model and medical technology student Miss Nikki Tigmo Taylor of the municipality of Sindangan bagged the 2nd place and was also a recipient of the Zamboanga del Norte United Correspondents (ZNUC) Darling of the Press award. Dashing off in third place was the BS Secondary Education Junior student of Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial State College, Miss Farah Sorronda of the municipality of Polanco. Among the candidates who qualified in the top five were Miss Aisa Mel Briones of the municipality of Roxas and Miss Crisebel Gabato of the municipality of Siocon. Various special awards and recognitions were also given to the candidates. Miss Liloy received three awards and these were Miss Professionalism, Miss Dipolognonon.Com and Miss Photogenic. Miss Friendship went to the candidate of the municipality of Rizal and Miss Roxas was awarded as the Miss NBN-11 Telegenic. Miss Zanorte 2007 was one of the main highlights devised by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte and the Hudyaka Committee to hound the most beautiful and talented lass in the province.
