Yebes solicited to the mayors their commitment to participate in the festival so as to depict a government committed and united in bringing progress and development to the province of ZaNorte. Today, 25 municipalities and two cities are yet again joining this year’s celebration and are setting up booths inside the Hudyaka site. Though it is noticeable that municipal booths are not as grandly decorated as last year but it has remained its main attraction of showcasing various delicacies and distinguished agricultural products of each town participating in the festival.

Yebes strongly stressed that the festival is not only intended for merriment as what other festivals are but it is more of a celebration of being unified amidst being diverse in culture and beliefs amongst the people living within the province. Responding to the looming issues and controversies that the festival will not be realized this year, Yebes pointed out that he could not find any reason to scrap out Hudyaka Festival among the yearly activities in the province because the festival has already left indelible marks in the hearts and minds of ZaNorteans.

Yebes is certain that the festival will definitely strengthen again economic activities in the province as well as its tourism industry. (Abante Zanorte Gazette, The Official Chronicler of Hudyaka ZaNorte 2007, Vol. III No.1)

Gov. Yebes grants scholarship to Miss ZaNorte candidates

Indeed it’s a very rewarding pleasure for the beautiful damsels who joined in the Miss ZaNorte 2007 pageant, because all of them sure-fired a scholarship courtesy of Gov. Rolando Yebes.  This has been publicly disclosed by Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) chairman Atty. Albert “Flint” Concha, Jr. during the Committee meeting of the PTC members.

Concha further stated that the primary reason why this grant is included in the package is because the governor wanted to produce not only a beauty queen with wit and glamour but also with adequate educational qualifications. Each candidate is allowed to choose any course they want to take up at the Dipolog Medical Center College Foundation. A wide array of courses such as midwifery, nursing and information technology are among the choices.

There are 14 young women with exuding beauty and exuberance who will vie for this year’s Miss Zanorte. The grand coronation night is slated on the 6th day of June. It can be noted that the provincial government thru the dynamic leadership of governor Lando Yebes has produced more than a hundred scholars from various municipalities thru his educational assistance program which is currently carried over by the Community Development Assistance Unit. PTC assures spectacular events

The Provincial Tourism Council is all set for the 9-day celebration of Zamboanga del Norte’s 55th founding anniversary through its Hudyaka Festival ’07 which is slated on June 1 to June 9, 2007. Provincial Tourism Council vice-chairman Atty. Flint Concha recently met with the various committees for the festival to make sure of a smooth and worry-free festivity for the people of ZaNorte.

The council assured ZaNorteans that activities such as Street Dancing, Miss ZaNorte, nightly cultural shows and other torneys are still in the list of activities. Relative to this, Concha is positive that it will be a festival packed with extraordinary events and will maintain the essence of its being a tourist attraction as it has always been during the past two celebrations of the festivity last 2005 and 2006.

He added that this year can be considered as a double celebration for the province since not only will the founding anniversary be celebrated but also the landslide victory of Gov. Rolando E. Yebes who gained an over-all margin of 72,657 votes against his political opponent during the May 2007 elections. Moreover, he pointed out that the second term of Gov. Rolando Yebes proves that the people of ZaNorte still has  their  trust and confidence to the governor to man the province and make it more progressive in the coming years.
