Ms. Dapitan is Miss ZaNorte 2007 It’s a night of glitz, glamour and tiara madness when 14 young women vied the most coveted crown Zanorte in stored for a lady who exudes beauty and sophistication, the Miss Zanorte 2007. It was a tremendous night for Miss Dapitan after she was crowned as the fairest among equally stunning ladies during last night’s coronation event of Miss Zanorte at the Hudyaka Agro-Tourism and Industrial area. Despite of a drizzly atmosphere, 19-year old Mary Kris Dagpin Grado stood out among the 14 ladies who competed in the pageant. In her wit reply to the question of “What contributions do your municipality give to the province for tourism enhancement?” Ms. Dapitan gave a flabbergasting riposte that “..Dapitan City defines the past, the present and the future of Zanorte, it is a paradise gift from God and a home of the people. Dapitanons continue to strive to grow economically and socially by making use of the best of our talents, skills, knowledge and capabilities in everything that we do, without sacrificing our strong spiritual beliefs, care for social responsibility and love for peace and respect.”
Grado added that “..Dapitan City is known for its being part of the great history of our national Hero Dr. Jose Rizal, and that already contribute much to Zamboanga del Norte.” She said that because of the move of the Historical Institute to promote Dapitan as a Shrine City, tourism and commerce in the province has improved as local and tourism visitors come and visit also other places in the province. Moreover, she pronounced that the greatest contribution of Dapitan City is its cooperation with Dipolog City and all municipalities to support valuable programs being initiated by the Provincial Government”. “ ..Unity, cooperation and give and take relationship has led Zanorte a place to reckon in terms of unity despite of cultural adversity, peace and environmental protection..” Grado ended. Indubitably, the young lass gained massive support from the beauty connoisseurs who were present at the Hudyaka area. Ms. Dapitan got the Best in Evening Gown, Miss Tourism and Best in Swimsuit awards. On the other hand, model and medical technology student Miss Nikki Tigmo Taylor of the municipality of Sindangan bagged the 2nd place and was also a recipient of the Zamboanga del Norte United Correspondents (ZNUC) Darling of the Press award. Dashing off in third place was the BS Secondary Education Junior student of Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial State College, Miss Farah Sorronda of the municipality of Polanco. Among the candidates who qualified in the top five were Miss Aisa Mel Briones of the municipality of Roxas and Miss Crisebel Gabato of the municipality of Siocon. Various special awards and recognitions were also given to the candidates. Miss Liloy received three awards and these were Miss Professionalism, Miss Dipolognonon.Com and Miss Photogenic. Miss Friendship went to the candidate of the municipality of Rizal and Miss Roxas was awarded as the Miss NBN-11 Telegenic. Miss Zanorte 2007 was one of the main highlights devised by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte and the Hudyaka Committee to hound the most beautiful and talented lass in the province. Gov. Yebes calls for sincere gov’t service “Let us serve them with justice and equity,” this was the message of Gov. Rolando E. Yebes during the Inter-Faith Prayers and Thanksgiving Mass in celebration of Zamboanga del Norte’s 55th founding anniversary, yesterday, June 6, at the Capitol Plaza. Yebes stressed that he is strongly encouraging government officials in the province to be sincere when it comes to their work and urged them to give their whole-hearted service to their provincemates so as to establish the truest essence of government service.
He further added that for 55 years since Zamboanga del Norte came into being, he is only serving for three years and that he wanted to serve more and extend his service to the people of ZaNorte , to be of aid to ZaNorteans who are hungry of government assistance. The governor strongly wanted to discard the attitude of “crab mentality” in Zamboanga Peninsula and of being corrupt among some politicians. He was hopeful that in the next election come May 2010, money would not be basis for any politicians to claim and strive a seat in the government office. Yebes is urging everyone to forget whatever grudges they might have felt during the last May 2007 election against their political rivals. To move on and prevail the love of service to humanity for this is the best work of life is the main thought of Gov. Yebes’ message to everyone during ZaNorte’s 55th founding anniversary. ProVet parlor games stir Hudyaka 2007 They ran. They stumbled and staggered but still they carried the sweetest of all smiles on their faces. These are the common pictures of the contestants participating in the parlor games set by the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian headed by Mr. Vicente Sanchez, Jr. to give thrill and excitement to the 9-day celebration of Zamboanga del Norte’s 55th Founding Anniversary. According to Sanchez, ProVet has in stored various activities and parlor games from day 1 until to the last day of this year’s celebration of Hudyaka Festival to the local folks present around the area. Contest winners will have a chance to take home piglets, hitos (catfish) and chickens for these numerous parlor games ProVet has created.
“Hudyaka festival is a festivity that centers on merry-making so that is why ProVet created games such as piglet catching, karambola, hito and chicken catching to introduce to the local people that the festival also gears on giving instant socio-economic benefits to the contest winners through the games they participated,” Sanchez added. Through these simple yet exciting parlor games of ProVet, winners could raise and increase the livestocks they won and make business out of it if they want to. From kids to elderly individuals, any one is welcome and free to join these games set for the Hudyaka Festival. Yesterday afternoon, Gabby Agurin, a teenager from Dipolog City expressed his gratitude to ProVet for he was able to take home a hito. “Bisan daghan mi nangdakop ug isda, nakakuha gihapon ko,” Agurin cheerfully said while holding the wiggly and slimy hito with two hands. He appreciated the hito catching of ProVet for without it he would not have any hito to cook for the night. These yearly parlor games instigated by ProVet has always been sought of because of its uniqueness and remained to be one of the biggest highlights of every Hudyaka festivity. That was why Sanchez, ProVet’s project initiator was very positive that through the activities conducted by his office many ZaNorteans went home with smiles on their faces. Jobs in fair up for grabs The province’s annual job’s fair creates so many possibilities to job seekers which will kick off starting today until June 8 at the ZN Convention Center. PESO Manager Senen S. Ladera of the Office of Internal Affairs said they have mobilized several licensed Zamboanga-based and local recruitment agencies. Jobs are available in the U.S.A., Trinidad and Tobago, Hongkong, Brunei, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon among others. Ladera said jobs in Trinidad and Tobago include 24 processors for fish and 1 supervisor. He said Hong Kong is in need of 200 domestic helpers. Brunei also needs technical executive, industrial designer, 2 carpenters, 2 painters, a foreman, a sales representative, 5 interior designers, 4 marketing executives, 7 laborers, 50 domestic helpers, 35 gardeners, and 15 family drivers. Meanwhile, the Guardian Healthcare Providers in Tennessee, U.S.A. is need of 10 therapists and 100 nurses. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia jobs await for 20 project engineers, a structural engineer, 2 architects , 2 civil engineers, 9 electrical engineers, 5 mechanical engineers, a medical equipment technician and 20 engineering technicians. Ladera said that Bahrain also needs aircon technician, milling machine operator, laboratory technician, housemaid, fabricator and domestic helpers. The following countries are also in need of skilled workers, e.g. Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. Ladera said they have also invited local employers. “More invited employers will participate on the very day of the said event,” he added. He said that they are working closely with the Department of Labor, Philippine Overseas Workers Administration, TESDA, NSO personnel and the DFA for the establishment of a One-Stop Processing area during the activity. Skydivers bared soul-lifting tricks So like superman, 11 skydivers dazed spectators as they demonstrated enlivening stunts during the 1st Hudyaka Skydiving Competition yesterday at the Zamboanga del Norte Sports Complex. The competition truly enthralled spectators as skydivers showed tricks while maneuvering their parachutes in the air. A member of Dipolog Skydiving team emerged victorious over other ten participants who joined in the free-fall style and accuracy event. Dennis Laput felt triumphant and jovial as he landed on target and thrashed out other skydiving experts from Cebu and from other parachuters club in the country. Ranking second to Laput was Garry Soria of Cebu City, he landed one (1) meter away from the mark while the third place was obtained by Ashley Lee from the Bureau of Fire Protection of Cebu City. Other runners-up were Roland Badon of Cebu Sports Parachute Club who landed 10 meters away from the mark and Provincial Government Security Guard Ramil “Jik2” Bolinkit of Dipolog Skydiving Team who landed 15 meters away. Five sets of jumps with a total of 9,000 feet elevation were made during the event. Other skydivers who leaped off the competition were Jonathan Goite of Dipolog Skydiving Team, Ricky Emeterio of Cebu Parachuters Club, Dodong Engonia of PAPI, Allan Martinez and Salvador Jamorol Jr. of DST. It can be noted that the first skydiving competition was planned by the Hudyaka Zanorte Committee to give Zanorteans a blazing thrill and excitement as we commemorate the 55th Founding Anniversary of the province. Mobile pass porting today at ZNCEC To even make the province’s annual jobs fair a sure success and to facilitate faster processing, Ladera also requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to conduct a mobile pass porting at the ground floor of the ZN Convention Center, today until June 8. Ladera said the DFA will conduct a short briefing or lecture to enlighten the public who are interested to go abroad before they issue a passport. The requirements for mobile pass porting are: birth certificate, 2 valid IDs, 4 pass port size pictures, marriage certificate (if married) and a photo-copy of an old pass port for renewal.
